Since 2003, Vision Source Eye Center of the Triad has been the leader and preferred provider of quality vision care products and personalized optometric services to our patients in Greensboro and the surrounding areas. Our experienced doctors and staff offer comprehensive vision examinations and specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide array of eye diseases, conditions, and problems.

Our Staff

Timothy Koop, O.D.

Dr. Koop earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1996. Prior to this, he attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan for his undergraduate studies. In addition, he also received a Bachelor of Science degree in Visual Science. Dr. Koop’s clinical training included rotations at the Illinois Eye Institute as well as various externship sites throughout Chicago. He enjoys practicing all aspects of Optometry including pediatric and geriatric exams and advanced corneal refractive therapies.

Prior to practicing in Greensboro, NC, Dr. Koop practiced in Saginaw, Michigan, and Wilmington, NC. In 2000, he joined Eye Care Associates at their Greensboro location. In January 2003, he and his wife, Dr. Angela Martinek, purchased the Greensboro and Oak Ridge practices and renamed it Vision Source Eye Center of the Triad. They then relocated the practice to its current location in November 2008.

Dr. Koop resides in Greensboro with his wife Angela, daughter Carly and son Sam. He was born and raised just outside of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He enjoys almost any type of sporting activity, most notably golf and basketball. He also enjoys following all his Michigan sports teams when possible.

Angela Martinek, O.D.

Dr. Angela Martinek grew up in Greensboro, NC, where she attended both grade school and high school. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from North Carolina State University in 1992. She attended Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago where she received her Doctor of Optometry and Bachelor of Science in Visual Sciences degrees in 1996.

After graduating, Dr. Martinek worked in the Saginaw area in Michigan and then in Wilmington, NC. She moved to Greensboro in 2000 and has been in private practice since. She and her husband, Dr. Timothy Koop, own Vision Source Eye Center of the Triad.

Dr. Martinek lives in Greensboro with her husband Tim, daughter Carly and son Sam. She enjoys following sports, especially NC State football and basketball and is an avid Chicago baseball fan.

Angela Petracca, O.D.

Dr. Angela Petracca grew up in upstate New York and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from SUNY Geneseo. She attended MCPHS University School of Optometry where she received her Doctor of Optometry in 2017.

After graduating, Dr. Petracca worked in Minneapolis, MN before moving to Greensboro in 2019. She joined Vision Source Eye Center of the Triad in November 2020 and is currently accepting new patients at both the Greensboro and Oak Ridge locations.

Dr. Petracca lives in the Sedgefield community with her husband, Joel and their two dogs. She grew up watching hockey and is a new supporter of the Carolina Hurricanes.

Josef Silverman

Administrator / Optician

Josef joined Vision Source Eye Center of the Triad in January 2017 and has over 35 years of expertise in the optical industry. Josef is originally from Savannah, Georgia. He and his wife, Carol, along with their three children have lived in Greensboro since 1990. In his spare time, Josef enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, and reading.

Karen

Insurance / Billing Specialist
Karen joined Vision Source Eye Center of the Triad in September 2014 as the Insurance/Billing Specialist. Karen brought with her 20 years of customer service and insurance experience in Optometry. She relocated from Kinston, NC in 2005 to be closer to her daughter and family, which includes her favorite pastime of spoiling her 2 rambunctious grandsons. She also loves to get away to the beach occasionally for relaxation and fun.

Lisa

Front Desk Coordinator
Lisa joined Vision Source Eye Center of the Triad in November 2015 with over 20 years of management experience. Lisa was raised in both Nashville, TN and sunny South Florida and now resides in Greensboro with her family. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys reading, hiking, photography and collecting vinyl record.

Raquel

A Brooklyn native, Raquel moved to Durham, then Greensboro area to attend UNCG and never left. When she isn’t at work, she spends most of her free time gaming, live streaming and organizing virtual community nights.
